Our current World Tree Project:
WHAT: applying for a national grant for cross-disciplinary team to make an intentional, sacred greenspace in an urban setting; the longitudinal research gathered will help establish sacred placemaking as necessary for community health and vibrancy
WHERE: in Portland, Oregon
WHY: the time has come to re-awaken the wisdom of World Tree to help modern communities recuperate from isolation and re-member the powerful re-generative force of Earth and Spirit – the Sacred is not “over there” out “in nature” nor at a destination requiring a plane trip to another continent – it is right here where people are when we have the proper rituals of entry
HOW: this project is a “symbolic intervention” of sorts; the idea is to add the cross-cultural icon of the World Tree to existing places through community art installation – so many possibilities!
WHEN: the team is gathering – interested? Proposals due between Feb – June 2012
